Equal Marriage, CaliforniaJune 17, 2008 - Nov 4, 2008In hopes of the resurrection
It is just so....freaking....sad!
Masasa, it is. Though personally I'm oscillating between resignation (for the moment!) and anger. I'll wait and see what the California State Supreme Court does after they hear the case in March. I'm guessing that there may be a lot of protests as spring turns to summer. We can keep asking if people wouldn't have been happy to have had more people getting married and spending lavishly on their ceremonies... boosting the local economy. Ok, so a little bitter, too. But if you think I am, you should hear the mother of our sons on the subject. You could get steam burns...
A vote against marriage is a vote for extra-marital relationships or promiscuity: thus the right wing religious people are promoting promiscuity by forbidding marriage for those who want it.
kim, I think it would be accurate to say that they've inverted Paul's statement completely. Their assertion is that it is better for others to burn than for them to marry. This, they affirm, in the interest of saving souls.
